What part of yourself are you ready to express more fully? What have you been holding back because you were waiting for the right time, more confidence, or someone else’s approval?

The Solar Eclipse in Leo on August 12, 2026, at 20 degrees of Leo brings our attention to these questions. This eclipse offers us an opportunity to look at where we are ready to reconnect with our creativity, our confidence, our passions, and the things that make us feel alive.

A Solar Eclipse is always a New Moon because it occurs when the Sun and Moon come together in the same sign. Every month, the New Moon gives us an opportunity to begin again, set intentions, and consider what we want to grow moving forward. When a New Moon is also an eclipse, it can bring a stronger feeling of awareness, change, or redirection.

Eclipses do not mean something is automatically going to happen. Instead, they often highlight areas of our lives where we are ready to see something differently. They can reveal what we have outgrown, bring attention to new possibilities, or help us recognize where we are ready to move forward.

This Solar Eclipse begins a new Lunar Gestation Cycle that takes 3 years from start to finish. The Lunar Gestation Cycle always begins with a New Moon and follows the unfolding of the lunar cycle as the intentions, awareness, and themes that begin at the New Moon develop over time.

Because this New Moon is also a Solar Eclipse, this is an especially important time to pay attention to what is coming up for you. The days around the eclipse are a wonderful time for journaling, reflection, and noticing what thoughts, ideas, desires, or questions keep returning.

You do not need to have all the answers right away. This is a time to listen and observe.

What are you becoming aware of? What are you feeling called to explore? What part of your life is asking for more attention?

Leo: Creativity, Confidence, and Self-Expression

This eclipse is in Leo, and Leo is about your heart. It is about who you are, what you love, what brings you joy, and what you want to share with the world.

Leo asks us:

Where am I ready to express myself more fully?

What part of myself have I been keeping hidden?

What brings me joy that I have moved away from?

Leo reminds us that we are not here just to go through the motions of life. We are here to participate in our own lives. We are here to create, to express, to share our gifts, and to experience the things that make us feel alive.

When we talk about creativity, this does not mean you suddenly need to become an artist or start a new hobby. Creativity is much bigger than that.

Creativity is how you solve problems. It is how you express your ideas. It is how you bring your personality into your work, your relationships, and your everyday life.

Maybe there is something you have wanted to create but you keep putting it off. Maybe you have an idea you have not shared because you are worried about what other people will think. Maybe you have forgotten what it feels like to do something simply because you enjoy it.

Leo encourages us to reconnect with those parts of ourselves.

Jupiter in Leo: Expanding What Matters to Us

We also have Jupiter in Leo now, where it will remain for the next year. Since Jupiter only entered Leo at the end of June, many of us are just beginning to notice how this energy is showing up in our lives.

Jupiter expands whatever it touches, and in Leo, our attention turns toward creativity, passion, confidence, self-expression, and what brings us joy.

For some people, this may already be showing up as a desire to reconnect with something they love. Maybe you have been feeling like something is missing. Maybe you have been focused so much on responsibilities and what needs to get done that you are realizing you want more inspiration, excitement, or purpose.

For others, this may bring awareness around confidence and visibility. You may begin noticing where you have been holding yourself back, where you have been afraid to share your voice, or where you have been waiting for someone else to recognize your value.

The Solar Eclipse in Leo gives us an opportunity to pause and look more closely at these themes.

What am I passionate about?

What brings me joy?

What do I want to create?

Where am I ready to become more confident in who I am?

Because Jupiter will continue moving through Leo over the next year, these are not questions that need to be answered overnight. Give yourself time to process. Keep journaling. Notice what ideas continue to return and what areas of life begin asking for your attention.

The awareness that begins with this Solar Eclipse may continue to grow as Jupiter expands our understanding of what it means to express ourselves more fully and reconnect with what makes us feel alive.

Lunar Node Shift

There is another reason Leo themes are becoming especially important right now. The Lunar Nodes are directly connected to eclipses, making their upcoming shift especially significant. The Mean Lunar Nodes will soon change signs (the True Lunar Nodes already have), bringing the South Node into Leo for the next 18 months. This reinforces the Leo themes that are already being highlighted by this Solar Eclipse.

The South Node in Leo will continue to bring our attention to Leo themes: our creativity, our confidence, our need for recognition, and how we express ourselves. It may also help us become aware of old patterns around needing approval, seeking validation, or holding onto outdated versions of ourselves.

With Jupiter now moving through Leo and this Solar Eclipse beginning a new cycle in Leo, we have a strong emphasis on understanding what it means to express ourselves more authentically.

There is a lot of fire energy being activated, encouraging us to reconnect with our passions, our desires, and the things that make us feel alive.

Allowing Yourself to Be Seen

This eclipse can also bring attention to visibility. Many people struggle with allowing themselves to be seen. We may hold back because we do not want to appear too much, too proud, too different, or because we fear judgment.

But Leo asks a simple question:

What if you allowed yourself to be seen exactly as you are?

Confidence is not about needing everyone to notice you. It is not about proving your worth. True confidence comes from accepting yourself and trusting that what you bring to the world has value.

This may be a time to step forward in some area of your life. You may feel ready to share your voice, take on a leadership role, put yourself out there, or finally give attention to something that has been calling you.

The Shadow Side of Leo

There is also another side of Leo to consider.

When we are disconnected from our own confidence, we may look outside ourselves for validation. We may wait for someone else to recognize us before we recognize ourselves. We may compare our journey to someone else's and decide we are not ready, not good enough, or not special enough.

The Solar Eclipse in Leo encourages us to move away from that.

This is not about needing to be the center of attention. It is about allowing yourself to be the center of your own life. It is about honoring your own experiences, your own creativity, your own ideas, and the unique way you show up in the world.

Working With the Solar Eclipse in Leo

As you move through this eclipse energy, consider spending some time journaling with these questions:

What part of myself am I ready to share?

What brings me joy that I want to reconnect with?

What creative ideas or passions have I been putting aside?

Where am I ready to stop holding myself back?

What would I do if I trusted myself more?

The Solar Eclipse in Leo is an invitation to come back to yourself. It is a reminder to reconnect with what makes you feel alive, to honor your creativity, and to remember that your voice, your ideas, and your presence matter.

This eclipse begins a new Lunar Gestation Cycle, opening a time of reflection, awareness, and growth. Pay attention to what is calling for your attention now. Notice the ideas that keep returning, the desires you cannot ignore, and the parts of yourself that are ready to be expressed more fully.

You do not need to have everything figured out today. Some things take time to develop. The awareness that begins around this eclipse may continue to unfold over the coming months, revealing new possibilities and helping you reconnect with the person you are becoming.

This is a time to trust yourself, honor what brings you joy, and allow yourself to be seen.

The next blog will be a short description of the Eclipse in each house.
