Full Moon in Aries September 26: Seeing What Needs to Change

The Full Moon in Aries September 26 arrives at 12:49 p.m. EDT, bringing something to a point where it is harder to ignore. Full Moons can make something more visible, especially something that has been building for a while. With this Full Moon in Aries, the focus is on independence, personal needs, and taking action, while the Libra Sun reminds us that our choices also affect the people around us. This is a time to take a closer look at what needs our attention and where a change in how we respond may be needed.

The Aries-Libra axis is always about the balance between ourselves and other people. Aries is concerned with independence, personal needs, taking action and moving forward. Libra reminds us that we don't live in a vacuum. Our choices affect our relationships, agreements and the people around us.

So this Full Moon can bring something to a head around the question of where you end and someone else begins.

Are you making room for your own needs? Have you been compromising because it seemed easier than dealing with the issue? Or have you been so focused on what you need that you've lost sight of how your choices affect someone else? You don't necessarily need to make a big decision under this Full Moon. Sometimes the first step is simply recognizing what is true. And there is an important piece of the story that happens just before the Full Moon.

On September 25, the Sun in Libra opposes Neptune in Aries. This can make it harder to see a situation clearly. Neptune can blur the lines between what we hope is true and what is actually happening, while the Sun in Libra wants balance and agreement. We may want to believe that everything is fine, or we may be tempted to fill in the blanks when we don't actually have all the information. Because this happens the day before the Full Moon, I think it is worth paying attention to.

If something feels unclear, give it some time.

This is not about ignoring your intuition. Your intuition may be telling you something important. But there is a difference between noticing that something feels off and deciding that you already know exactly what it means. Gather the facts. Have the conversation. Let a little more information come in.

Sometimes the clarity we are looking for doesn't arrive because we need to think harder. It arrives because we finally have enough information to see the situation differently.

The Sun in Libra trines Pluto in Aquarius about 12 hours before the Full Moon so it too is part of the energy surrounding the Full Moon. This aspect can help us make meaningful changes without having to force them.

Pluto can help us see beneath the surface. We may recognize that something in a relationship, an agreement, or the way we have been handling a situation needs to change. The good thing about this aspect is that change does not have to be dramatic. You may simply realize that you don't want to respond the same way anymore.

Maybe you've been having the same conversation over and over again. Maybe you've been trying to make something work that really isn't working. Or maybe you have been waiting for someone else to change when there is actually something you can change about your own response. That is a very different kind of power.

The Full Moon in Aries can give us the willingness to act, while Pluto can help us understand what is underneath that need for action. Sometimes the change begins with recognizing that an old response, habit or agreement no longer fits who you are now.

On September 28, the Sun in Libra trines Uranus in Gemini. Uranus can bring new information, unexpected ideas and a different way of looking at something. In Gemini, that can come through a conversation, something you read or hear, or simply a thought that changes your perspective.

You don't have to throw everything out and start over. Sometimes doing something differently is enough.

This is one reason I like looking at the whole sequence around a Full Moon rather than treating the Full Moon as one isolated moment. We have the uncertainty or lack of clarity that can come with the Sun-Neptune opposition, followed by a deeper awareness of what needs to change with the Sun-Pluto trine, and then the possibility of a fresh perspective with the Sun-Uranus trine.

It is almost as if the process is: slow down, see what is really happening, recognize what needs to change, and then be open to another way of doing things.

The Full Moon in Aries is at the center of this process. Aries wants to act, but action for its own sake isn't necessarily the answer. Sometimes the most useful action is recognizing that an old pattern no longer works, setting a boundary, having a conversation you've been avoiding, or admitting that what you wanted before isn't what you want now.

The Libra side of this Full Moon matters just as much. Independence doesn't mean we stop caring about other people, and compromise doesn't mean we have to give ourselves away. The point is finding a better balance between what you need and what you are willing to do for others.

You don't have to have the whole answer on September 26. With Neptune involved just before the Full Moon, it may be more useful to notice what becomes clear, what no longer feels right, and what new information comes in. Then, when you know what needs to change, the Aries Full Moon can help you take responsibility for your next step.

And to finish this off for those of you interested in the Lunar Gestation Cycle here is that information.

The lunar gestation cycle

The lunar gestation cycle gives us another way to look at what may be unfolding with this Full Moon. The New Moon that began the cycle was March 29, 2025, at 9° Aries, and the First Quarter point was December 27, 2025, at 6° Aries. The idea is that something planted or beginning around the New Moon can develop through the First Quarter and come to greater awareness at the Full Moon. So, as you consider this September 26 Full Moon, you can look back to what was beginning in your life around March 2025 and what was taking shape by December 2025. There may be a connection between those earlier experiences and what is becoming clearer or reaching a turning point now.
